| Help me choose where to visit this summer
Wow I have absolutely no idea where to look this summer... my counsellor has suggested schools such as Cornell, Emory, Northwestern, GWU, and W+L.... but i was wondering if i could enter the higher realm of colleges.... perhaps a duke or upenn perhaps?? here are my stats... help me out....
SO... i'm an adopted korean going to a hardcore private school in the midwest...
Classes: the hardest curriculum offered, hardest in my class... 2 honors classes freshman year, 1 ap 3 honors classes soph year, 4 AP 1 honors class junior year, and next year 6 AP classes....yes it's a lot of fun... i only have gotten a 3 (yes i know it's not the greatest but i don't really like history) in AP Euro....
Standardized fun stuff;
SAT- 2150 (700CR, 750M, 700W)
ACT-32
SAT2's... coming in June
Ex.Activities:
Band- ex 1st chair turmpet, i had to quit.. solo/ensemble superior ratings, jazz band, pep band, concert band, most improved brass for playing the french horn...
Theater- 2 shows a year and then average of 2 shows in the summer at a professional theater, thespian society, used to study jazz and tap, select touring performing group with a professional theater
School: amnesty international... peertutoring, admissions buddies, model un, science olympiad (many medals and stuff), math team, TEAMS, school newpaper technical editor, play tennis, teddy bear drive coordinator
have a job-14 hours a week
so with that do u agree wth my counsellor or could i look up and about??

depends on extenet of achievement of EC's, but what the hell, there's no point in not applying. Apply away.
Kids from my school get into UPenn with 1250+ SATs (old) and around 30, modest EC's
What state are you in?

I don't see why not UPenn, but for Duke you need to up the SAT score---I would love to have your score, personally, but----Duke is one place that loves high SAT scores.

Yeah prolly the 2200's and I think your EC's are fine, but you could get over the top if you do something special
from my school:
Indian male: 1580 SAT, 4.0 UW, Tennis varsity starter, Model UN, volunteering..., hard-working smart guy
White male: 1520, 3.9UW (around there or higher), MUN, Quiz Bowl (MVP, All-tournament team...), volunteering, procrastinator and smart guy
