| What schools in California could I get in?
I go to a gifted school in FL thats nationally ranked about top 10.
Freshman year I was stupid and got like a 3.0 UW, Sophomore Year 3.33 UW, and Junior Year a 3.5 UW. (Weighted is about . 5 higher)
By the time I graduate I'll have taken 5 APs and the rest honors.
I got a 29 on my ACT, but am taking it again shooting for like a 31.
I have Varsity Lacrosse, community service, good essay and recs, etc.
I just don't know where I have a chance and where I don't.
Can someone please give me the rundown!
Thanks Alot!

I think you should try some of the lesser UC's along with UCLA and Berkeley as reaches. USC will also be a reach but it's worth a shot.

dpc1192, do you by any chance go to Stanton? just a guess
anyways, we need more information about what type of college you are looking at. Small or big? Specific major you are interested in? Sports? etc....

no..
and I'm not really sure, part of me wants to go to a smaller private school just because I like the idea of recognizing people and everyone coming from different places.
but than apart of me thinks that while maybe not as fun, a public school is more practical due to the fact that you can basically get a good education in any field.
right now I'm thinking journalism as a major, maybe advertisement. (something that is creative, but not unrealistic)

USC has a great journalism major though it would be a reach school for you. Are you looking at California or would you be willing to expand your options elsewhere?

If you are thinking journalism definitely apply to USC Annenberg. It's tough to get into, but I got in with similar scores as you. I had a much higher GPA though.

don't waste your time at Penn state you can get into American or BU which IMO are light-years better. Don't give up on USC though it's such a good oppurtunity to live in L.A.! The internships are unbelievable.

BU is definitely overrated in my opinion, it costs more to go to BU than the majority of so-called "top-50" schools so the cost is not worth it when you can go to a good public school or a private school that may cost less.

| Here's a list of California schools with Lacrosse. Perhaps you can use it as a "hook" Western Collegiate Lacrosse League |

There is no way American is close to Penn State. In anything.

I live in PA I've been to the campus. I know Penn State. YA, Penn State is well ranked when listed next to other state schools but there is a huge gap between UVA/Berkeley/UCLA/Michigan and Penn State.
If you want a local job and aren't thinking grad school then it's fine, but if your thinking grad school a degree from American will get you farther than Penn State.
I love this. You people don't even live here. I know the people who go to Penn State. It's a party school!
