I don't recall that Rice makes their CDS available, just some detailed admissions & other info, under "student" subject from the provided Rice web link above.

Also, here's the Institutional Research site, with connections to lots of historic Rice data, but no CDS':
http://professor.rice.edu/professor/...l_Research.asp

You'll note that we've included links like these for Rice, where school-packaged data is available, but no CDS. Boston College is another example of availability of fact books, but not CDS'.

Brown University

Great thread here. Brown's CDS is listed off the Office of Institutional Research, though you have to look for it.

Fourth Down:
http://www.brown.edu/Administration/...acts/index.htm

Also, the Admissions site gives a great breakdown of admit rates and SAT scores (prev. posted):
http://www.brown.edu/Administration/...ndfigures.html

The more info available to us, the public, the better. Admissions should be transparent. What do the universities have to hide? (Esp. Harvard, WUSTL, etc.)

I know that some schools provide data on % admittance by SAT/ACT score or GPA (e.g. fraction of students who applied with SAT 700-800 that were admitted). Is there any general source for this or does one just have to troll through their web sites?

drb-- I am not aware of any centralized system like the CDS for collecting admit data. I too have seen sporadic references to these types of data, mostly on college admissions web pages, especially where the college's admit stats are higher than the enroll stats for that institution....my cynical view is that those data (admit rather than enroll) make the college appear more high scoring to the uninformed surfer used to interpretting enroll data only.

Papachicken--do any common data sets provide stats for those admitted and those enrolled so one could figure out how much leeway there is?

The New College of Florida

The New College of Florida Lists an Applicants Bill of Rights, that includes your right to see the Common Data Set.

Fordham University

They don't seem to have the CDS posted on line.
US News and the other College Guide's base their reports of the Common Data Sets. So you could look there to find the information you want.

The Common Data Sets have the stats of the students that have actually enrolled at the College.

In most, if not all cases, the Stats of those Admitted would be the same as or higher than those that Enrolled.

In any event, I'm not aware of any colleges that post that information.

Musictoad-- to add to what Rich has said, the CDS' only report "enrolled" SAT & class rank stats. Some colleges do report Admit data on their web sites, which can be a deceptive practice if those data are not clearly discerned as "admit" rather than "enroll" because as Rich notes, admit stats as often greater in value than enroll stats. See this discussion on U Miami's SAT postings:
University of Miami a soon to be top 50 school?

One other example that comes to mind of a college posting admit stats is Davidson. Here is Davidson's class of 2010 accepted profile:
http://www2.davidson.edu/admission/apply_icprofile.asp
Note that I don't deem this as deceptive as they have clearly marked the table as "accepted" students. Note that the SAT ranges of acceptees (M+V= 1325-1490 middle 50%) are greater than the previous year's enrolled students' SATs as reported in their CDS (M+V= 1280-1440): http://www2.davidson.edu/administrat.../0506cds_C.pdf

On Colgate-- I have never found their CDS on their web site. They do have a "profile" page which lists things like SATs:
http://www.colgate.edu/DesktopDefaul...=555&pgID=2080
Note that the profile data are for the "admitted" group, meaning that the reported median of 1310-1480 is likely greater than the enrolled population (USNews reports 1270-1430 from last year).

yeah---accepted is ALWAYS HIGHER THAN ENROLLED.

JHU provides this on their website, both enrolled and admitted.

Admitted is like 1340-1540

enrolled: its like 1300-1490
