Thanks Keilexandra very much for this list. I would suggest this gets stickied. I would've never found out about these programs if not for CC, and that was on the Amherst forum. It took me a ton of research to sort through all of them for colleges I'm interested in, and I've ended up applying to the Amherst, Williams, and Middlebury ones. I think that they're wonderful opportunities and that it's important for kids to know they're out there. Thanks again!

Haha, Swarthmore was the only LAC that sent me an invitation to its Discovery Weekend. *sigh*

I got an invitation from Scripps. I kind of wanted to go but since there's a ridiculously small chance that I'll be going there (LAC + so far away + all women) I decided not to take the spot or the grant from someone who actually wants to go. Washington University in St. Louis has a Discovery Weekend not limited to URMs but that is all-expenses paid and by invitation.

^ Is Wash U's weekend in the fall? I know they have one in the Spring for ALANA students (friend went and said it was majority Asian).
EDIT: Found the link. Doesn't appear to pay expenses, though; that part is probably by invitation. http://admissions.wustl.edu/DW/Pages/default.aspx |

^^ I applied for Scripps + the Travel grant, so I can't wait to see if I can go or not. I love these things. Maybe I'll apply for another so I can see more than one campus OOS.
Thanks for the updated info guys.

Yurtle,
Have you heard back from Scripps? I actually decided to apply for the Scripps travel grant. I was reading about Scripps and the Claremont colleges and I really liked the idea. The FAQ also explicitly stated that if I wasn't sure about Scripps or women's colleges, I was still welcomed to come to the program. Scripps would be an out-of-the-box college for me, but I want to visit - I want to make sure I'm not missing out on something that might actually be the right fit for me.
I applied on the 27th and got approved for a travel grant on the 28th. Best of luck to you!

^ Wow, a quick turnaround. I just submitted my transcript yesterday, but for various reasons, I'm not expecting to be approved--might as well try, though.
