Hello,

I am a high school senior attempting to narrow down my college chooses. I would like to become a Pediatric surgeon or a doctor of some sort which i believe will make my major biology or pre-med. I am 2nd of 308 ranking. 1520 SAT. A- average. active tennis and swim team member. attended a couple of college courses in accounting and chemistry. Participates in many volunteer projects.

Where do you think would be a suitable college for me?
Am I in good standing for this college???

1) no such thing as a "Pre-Med" major in most colleges. A person can major in Classical literature or Architecture, fulfill med school requirements, take the MCAT and be admitted to med school.
2) Most colleges prepare potential med school applicants. What are you looking for? Big? Medium? Small? Affordable? What area of the USA?

The fact that you want to be a doctor frankly, shouldn't factor much in the college you are choosing. To be a viable Med school app, you need superior GPA overall and great grades in your med school pre-reqs, and sold MCAT scores. Now you need to choose a school that you'll enjoy (because then you'll more easily excel academically). What college? Tons.

Our family practitioner went to a very small LAC in Illinois. She thought that was a great advantage when applying to medical school because she said that her professors knew her very well. Three of them wrote letters and then sat down as a committee and wrote one. You might also look at the Colleges that Change Lives book by Pope, which includes acceptance rates to professional schools. It is very informative. Good luck.

Not enough info- pick based on preferences. Should be competitive pretty much anywhere. Too late to apply to pre-admission medical programs, though. Any top school will prepare you well as long as you buckle down and get good grades.
