I have lots of journalism experience and would LOVE to go to Northwestern, but...

I certainly don't have the stats. My GPA is around a 3.45, and my rank is barely top quarter.

My SAT scores are decent, CR - 800, M - 610 (weak, I know), W - 730. My SAT II's are US History - 760, Spanish - 700, and Literature - 690.

Do you think my experience as an editor of my school newspaper and my desire/passion to go to Medill would help me get in?

It's always worth a shot. I'm much in the same boat.

Ugh, it didn't help when I read a post from a Medill student about it being the MOST selective school at Northwestern. I'm scared.

Please keep one thing in mind-there are plenty of kids like you who are editors of school newspapers who also are fully aware of Northwestern's journalism reputation. I'm not saying that they're better than you, but if that is supposed to be your hook, you're likely going to need more. You need to find ways to get the focus of your application off of your GPA (you're well below their mean) and onto the topic on which you want to be considered (your writing interest, your 800 CR, etc.). Doable, but not easy and hopefully you can add some other twists that will differentiate you within this pool of applicants. Good luck.
