Waiting ...

We were also told there are 60 on the wait list. Still waiting, though I think it could be mid-June before they know. Has anybody gotten off the list yet?

Have any transfers gotten housing offers yet? I know one person who did, but haven't heard of any others.

writegirl, i heard today that i made it off of the transfer waitlist!! they said that only 50 out of the 200 incoming transfers will be given on-campus housing though, so i'll have to figure out something off-campus. good luck, i hope you get some good news!

kelly 3796,
Congrats! That's wonderful! If you don't mind my asking, did W&M call you or did you get a letter offering admission? It makes me crazy not knowing what to expect. And best of luck finding housing!

Does anyone know anything about the Ludwell Apartments? I was offered housing there, but I'm a little concerned about how far of a walk it is from Old Campus.

yes, Ludwell info. please if anyone has it? I was offered housing there as well. Which building are you in? As for the walk, you could just take the bus for free with your id.

Oh no, there's no need to take the bus from Ludwell. It is a 3 minute walk to Morton or the new Business School, which are themselves just a 10 minute brisk walk to the furthest buildings on old campus. Parts of Ludwell may actually be closer to the Wren building than part of the Botetot Complex (a freshman dorm). Everyone who I know who lives there has absolutely loved it, and its better and closer than anything you can get off-campus at this point.

personally, I think Ludwell is awesome. I lived there in a triple junior and senior year (same room both years). You can see the floor plans on the reslife website. They come with a couch and chair. Desks for each person... some people put the desks in the kitchen, some in the living room, and some in the bedroom. Depends on how you want it arranged. You can fit other furniture in the living room also. Junior year we had 1 additional couch, and senior year we had 2... have 2 really cut down on the room to walk, lol.

They have thermostats and you can flip from heat to AC whenever you want, and set the temperature to whatever you want.

Ludwell is a 15 minute walk to Ewell/Wren/Tucker, which is a long walk for WM, but not for most other schools. Roughly 5 minutes to Morton. Would be less than 5 to the new business school. And, as Here_to_Help said, the walk is a lot shorter than the off campus stuff that would be available now. I'm sure everything within walking distance is long gone.

And you can take the buses (for free) if you want. The schedule changes year to year slightly, but when I was there the bus was at ludwell at X:41 (according to the schedule), and would get you to Ewell by X:47, which still gives you a few minutes if the bus is late. The only bus that was ever late enough to make me be late to class was the one at 3:40ish after they have the whole day to get behind. The ones in the morning were always good, and sometimes a couple minutes early.

They have full kitchens (no microwaves, but you can buy one) so you don't even need a meal plan if you do groceries. You might still want a meal plan to eat with friends though.

If you want a bike, you can probably snag one for cheap at the police bike sale in the spring. I used my bike to ride to the Rec Center / IM sports fields, and sometimes to Ewell.

Overall I give Ludwell an A+. The biggest downside is the distance. It seems far b/c W&M is so compact, and a lot of the dorms are literally right in the middle of campus. It is not bad at all though. And you can host parties and make your friends come to you =P

The only time the walk was really bad was during a minor hurricane and I started to go to class in the flood, but I encountered someone coming back to Ludwell, and they said all the classes were canceled. W&M was a little slow on the mass emailing that day.

Wow, I'm really glad to hear all that about Ludwell! Looking forward to it now. Thanks for all the info! I like that there's space to reposition furniture and bring in more couches/chairs. And I think I'll check out that police bike sale and pick-up something there for cheap.

zenout, I'm in building 602F2, and it's a quad apartment. How about you?

hmm... by "bike sale in the spring" I meant "bike sale in the fall". The bike sale is at the beginning of the year (duh). oops.

We snagged our couches from the various williamsburg thrift stores. of course, you could buy nicer ones too, lol.

I applied and did not get in. I was wondering if any of you could post activities you have done or any academic statistics, so that I could find out what I could do to get accepted next time?
