Good experience with CC admissions

Had a great experience with CC admissions today.

For one reason or another, we (parents and kid) screwed up in getting him registered for the prospective students' visit later this week. We'd booked the flight many weeks ago. But somehow, we neglected to submit the registration.

Mom called CC this morning. Sorry, registration has closed! DS still can come and participate in all the events, but there are no more student rooms ... unless there's a no-show. But be sure to explain your situation immediately at registration; maybe something can be done.

As it turned out, a very nice lady in admissions worked throughout the day to line DS up with a host. He gets a room. We save 75 bucks on a hotel, not to mention a heap of worry about where he is at 2 AM in a strange city 2500 miles away.

This says a lot to me about CC. Whenever you encounter some obstacle in this admissions process, be sure to observe how helpful the prospective school is about finding a solution. The stakes could be a lot higher when it comes to finding a work-study job, an internship, or admissions to grad school.
