I'm interested in transfering to Colo. State

What's the atmosphere like on campus? in Fort Collins? Is there a good music scene? With all that nice weather, I'm sure it's never a problem finding something to do outside, am I right? I'm an avid hiker, kayaker, fisher, rock climber, skiier, etc. so that's really important to me. I'm from rural New Hampshire, how much of a culture shock will it be to make the move out west?

Hey,

I've lived in Fort Collins for the past 13 years, and even though I'm determined to leave it for college, it really is a great place. The music scene is pretty good... there are def. a lot of emo-ish bands due to the college and the 4 highschools, but there's some other stuff too.

If you like the outdoors, this is pretty much an awesome place to live (voted as a top 10 dream city by outdoor mag. or something) as it's right in the foothills and a lot of great hiking and such is only 15 minutes away. As well, it's a reasonable drive to ski slopes for the day (2-3hrs). The mountains are beautiful, but beware - you are probably used to a lot of green in NH, colorado can get pretty brown and flat. We don't exactly get a lot of rain. But if you're a mountain person, FoCo is great.

oh yeah - and culture shock wise:

a lot of CSU kids are hippies, some aren't. A lot of them are locals who've lived here all of their life, so they're pretty outdoor oriented. CSU doesn't have the party reputation of CU, but... yeah. Oh and being close to the mountains, there are a good amount of "hicks" and ranchers.
