Csu

I took some classes at CSU, and I've lived in Fort Collins for 10+ years, so if anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Some topics that were mentioned on other threads, I would like to discuss here.

First of all, someone said there was a loud train that turned him/her off of the campus. I live right by the train route, but I hear the train only 2-3 times per year.. and that's only when it's being really loud. So I don't think the "loud train" is an issue in picking a university.

I think the campus is pretty compared to some of the 25+ campuses I visited just the last couple of weeks. In fact, I think the layout is fantastic. It's easy to get from class to class and the dorms are easily placed on the campus.

CSU has one of the best vet schools in the country (engineering department is great, too).

CU and CSU does have a rivalry going on, but it's all good natured.

CSU is better, though.

Do you have any input on the Fine Arts department, specificly with an emphasis in Photography?

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the photography department at CSU.

I do know that the Music department at CSU is great. I've taken lessons from some of the professors, and while they are very encouraging, they don't hesitate to give constructive criticism for improvement.

They just recently opened up a new performing center, and it looks fabulous.

Sorry I didn't really answer your question. I do know someone who is majoring/minoring (I don't know which) in photography at CSU, and maybe I can get her to tell you more about the program.

What's your perspective on the caliber of the Biology/Zoology departments at Colorado State University? Also, is there a fair number of out-of-state undergraduates at CSU?

I would say that the Biology department is doing fairly well.

The veterinary field is the top in the nation.

Hmm.. and I would say that around 50 % is out of state? I don't really know. But on a very small scale, around 11 of the 20 students in my math class were from out of state.
