Guests and Visitors?

Columbia's housing website has strict rules on guests and visitors (ie only 5 overnights per 30 days, visitors need to stay with you at all times). How strict are these regulations enforced?

not very. unless it reaches the point of a live-in boyfriend or girlfriend, in which case people might complain (if you have a roommate or live in a suite), or might never care (if you're in a corridor-style single). they don't keep strict track, but they do require that guests get a guest pass so they can swipe in to the dorms. you can basically set whatever start/end period you like for those guest passes, and renew them whenever you like.

Actually a friend of mine on my floor in JJ last year basically had a live in bf for most of the year. They never got him a guest pass and just signed him in/out all the time.

Like denz said tho, no one cares. Most colleges have rules like that but very few places actually enforce them.
