You can find other threads on this topic just by searching. This topic has been discussed ad nauseum and always brings up heated feelings.

I won't attempt to answer your question. I will simply say that my D loves Barnard.

the only time a columbia student has expressed annoyance to me over barnard is when we're waiting in line in the lobby of their building, because i have to be signed in (bc students can't swipe into cu dorms, and vice versa).

i go to barnard, and i always get this weird feeling when barnard girls say they go to columbia/rarely acknowledge barnard. i don't know how to explain the feeling; i think it's pity. it's like they're too busy trying convince themselves that they go there, that they're ignoring how fab barnard is.

but at the same time, i still feel like i belong to the columbia university community. if someone hasn't heard of barnard, i'll usually add "affiliated with cu"

This issue has been hashed over so many times that I feel ill just seeing the title of threads, haha

Check out the threads posted here: Helpful Columbia Threads

Generally speaking, immature, insecure, and uninformed people tend to pontificate on this a lot often using meaningless "evidence" to make points. I'll simply note that some of my best and smartest friends went to Barnard, and I met plenty of stupid people at CC. Take a chill pill, don't act all offended when they wear a Columbia sweatshirt, and everything will be dandy.

Isn't Barnard a great school on its own? Futhermore, don't both institutions benefit because of the affiliation? I see no cause for concern.
