Do you know Ancient Greek (it's even harder than Latin)?

You should be happy to know that Richmond Lattimore's translation is considered the best English (verse) translation out there.

By "actual Iliad" I met the original English translation, not Ancient Greek...

There are so many English translations of the Iliad, and since they are translations not one is better or more authentic than the others. It really depends on the reader's taste, level, and purpose.

The "original English translation" is the one by George Chapman, translated at the start of the seventeenth century. It's a verse translation, and trust me, you won't finish reading it before you graduate from Columbia.
