bad test scores

Is it even possible for me to get into Columbia with an ACT score of 28 or 29?

Is there a building with your last name on it? Are you an Olympic athlete? Is your parent a Senator or Cabinet member?

Just kidding, but if you look on College Board, you will see that 28 is in the lowest 25% of accepted students (and that quartile likely contains a fair number of athletes and legacies)

A 33 or 34 would get you deeper into the pack. What are your SAT scores? Oh yeah -- and also Columbia will examine your app. in an holistic manner, so you've got that going for you.

I would say try the SAT, you will probably do better on that one.
and unless you have other shiny things on your app, your scores may harm your chance

My daughter got in with a 30 Composite ACT score. But then again, she got a perfect 800 on a section of the SAT also. It wasn't the Writing section either.
