GS Roomies/Roomate Search (Fall 2012)

Hello guys,

As you may know, housing is on a first come first serve basis and at the end of the day, it may be possible that some of us will have to find apartments. Because of this, I wanted to start this forum for people who were accepted to GS and are looking to live near campus if they can't secure housing on campus. To everyone looking to stay on campus, introduce yourself. Over time, if all of us don't get placed on campus, we will be able to connect with other GS students that are also looking for possible roommates and connect. Looking forward to see everyone in the fall!

Another great resource, beyond this forum, is Columbia's Off-Campus Housing Authority. There's a whole office dedicated to helping Columbia students, faculty, and staff find housing in New York City. And, best of all, it's free!

You can find OCHA through the housing page. Good luck!

I have been tryin to activate my housing portal all evening with no success. When it asks for my UNI I try to make one since I do not recall receiving one or making one, but then it says my email is already registered. Then I try to search myself in the directory and can't find myself. If I fail to get a housing offer, I am down to get a couple roommates as long as we have separate rooms. I am a 25 year old veteran.

Your UNI is assigned, and looks like xxx1234. They'll create one for you a few weeks after your send in your deposit, you can find it by searching for your name on the main columbia.edu page, search box in the top right.

However you definitely don't need one to apply, and I don't even think you need one to receive/accept the housing offer email.

Have anyone heard about housing so far? I've been checking nearly everyday to see if my status changed. As of right now,it is still saying applications has been received.Very frustrating.Would like to get into UAH because it is so much cheaper to get one and less hassle.

So,if anyone receive any status changes, please do post.Greatly appreciated

I applied for housing a couple of weeks ago but haven't received any updates about it. If that doesn't work out, I'll be looking for a roommate or two... or three. I'm a 39-year-old male, and I plan to major in philosophy.

Hi Silverrock. If you don't mind my asking, when did you apply for housing? Will you be relocating from out of the tri-state area?

JSaint, if you're planning on being a financial econ and comp sci major you're NOT going to need an apartment. You're going to be living in Butler.

All jokes aside, great luck to you!

@JSaint: Right on! Nice to meet you, too! How many years will you be at CU? I'll be at the APS on June 26th; which one are you attending?

@Junho, you can log in to the housing portal with you email and when you get your UNI you can just link it to the account on the portal

I applied for housing as soon as I received my packet, but I haven't gotten any word yet. I live about half an hour from NYC so chances are I might have to find an apartment and roommate also. I'm a 19 year old male, and planning to major in Physics and German. Anyone, let me know if you're interested (:

Hi guys!
I applied for housing in January!! Still haven't gotten anything yet.
Well, in any case I will be looking for two roomates....and will be attending APS June 26th as well. A bit about me:
Age: 29
Female Latina
Major: Architecture

Note: UNI is given to you at the APS (so a friend of mine told me). You don't need a UNI to apply for housing. If you have any questions email them as I did. Good luck!
