Powerstorms - Early Decision, my application was completed in September. They are behind because of Sandy and the campus being closed. So don't sweat it, I'd call and simply ask an admissions rep where your application is in line. You should file for financial aid through FASFA now, you can't file out financial aid through Columbia until you are accepted.
I applied to Fall 2012 semester but was not accepted (one of my letter grades was not an "A"). I reapplied for Spring 2013. I think I should have waited a year, but I felt pretty confident after my feedback interview (I was told I was a strong applicant, but needed to get an A in my next course, which I'm doing). What do you think my chances of acceptance are? Since I haven't heard anything back, does this mean a flat out rejection? I submitted my paperwork November 5th. I can't log on the financial aid site, so I'm pretty sure I didn't get in.
I am assuming more people will get the call/fedex package next week. I want to take this moment to wish the remaining prospective students good luck. We have all worked very hard to get to this moment, academically, personally, and professionally. Even if some of us don't get accepted, this does not mean our journey ends there.
Antika - I graduated HS with a 2.8 and my college GPA is a 3.0, during my interview my low GPA was brought up and I explained to the advisor why it was so low. I was accepted for the Spring 2013 semester because of my overall application and essay. I hope me not even having an "A" after high school will keep your head up and know that you can do it. Just stick to the essay sylabus and be as detailed as possible, don't over think it, my essay took me about 25 mins to write up and I refused to let anyone proofread it.
Thank you WarreJor for those words of encouragement.
Apparently, I scored exceptionally well in the GS Admissions exam, had great recommendations, and a strong essay (found out via my feedback interview).
So, I'm still hanging on to some sort of hope, which your words provided!
I hope everyone here hears the same news you did :-)
Antika and powerstorms, I haven't heard anything either, I submitted my application November 5th. I was hoping to have heard something by now. But hellojan is right, we'll just have to wait and see.
I called the GS Office earlier today Wednesday and....
...was told that my application is STILL under review. Guess that means even though they haven't said yes, they don't want to say no either! Powerstorms and Ditau25, this may be the case for you two as well.
Yes HelloJan, it seems we are still in the game alright :-)
I've been waiting and checking multiple times a day to see if I can access the financial aid webpage. I just called a few minutes ago and they seemed reluctant to give me any information. It was like pulling teeth. Needless to say, my application is "still under review." I do appreciate that the phone goes straight to a person rather than navigating through a phone tree.
For anyone who submitted their application on Nov. 5th.
There was a mix up with my recommendations a week ago, today I received confirmation that it has been resolved. Also it stated that my application is under review and that I should receive a decision during the week of Dec. 15th. Hope this helps out who are still anxious about receiving admissions to Columbia
Hi everyone, I missed three calls from an unknown caller. The caller said he had exceptionally good news regarding my application. Then I received an email congratulating me on my acceptance!!!!!!
Now I have to fill out my financials and take out those damn loans...
