I think all in all 500-600 hours.[*] Summer Activities:Summer before 10/swam, relaxed, read etc Summer before 11/started program mentioned above, volunteered in hospital, had job, swam etc etc Summer before 12/went to summer program (that I will not identify because I don't want this to be TOO identifying...except you can probably figure it out through some sleuthing anyway...)[*] Essays: Common App Essay was about an experience visiting my "home" (where my parents are from..again not gonna say where cause it's a dead giveaway) country and how it's shaped my goals. Short answer about 'events' was about a poetry slam I attended (I'm still too shy to try it but I appreciate the reality of the topics often discussed in slam poetry). Short answer about favorite class was about Anthropology (even though I applied to Fu, lol!). Why Columbia and Fu, I talked about how much I loved how Fu believes in socially engaged engineers etc. [*] Teacher Recommendation: I've seen one of them, very nice and personal, we had a great! No major awards, no ONE thing I'm amazing at.[*] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I'm a good student, and I think I'm a nice person? I'm well rounded, maybe?[*] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: ACCEPTED- MIT, UChicago, UM, UF LIKELY LETTERS FROM Columbia, Harvard[/list][b]General Comments:I'm very happy and super excited! Although the challenge of making a choice is starting to freak me out, I'm still elated by the acceptances, and THIS likely letter, which I didn't expect to get, let alone the first one [/b] |
