2310 superscore

edited March 2012 in Columbia University
My first sitting was 2270 (800 M, 710CR, 760 WR) and I thought I could do better the second time. Something must've went wrong that day because my second sitting was 2180 (710 M, 670 CR, and 800 WR). My superscore is 2310 but my second sitting is trash. Will this be detrimental to Columbia and/or other ivy leagues?

only on CC is an SAT score in the top 2% on the world "trash"

    Here's data from Brown:
    800 Math rejection rate: 83%
    700-750 Math rejections: 90%
    710 -750 CR rejection rate: 90%
    650- 690 rejection rate: 93%
    750-790 WR rejection rate: 86%
    800 WR rejection rate:80%

Bottom line: Ivies are reach for almost everyone . . . at the rarified level you are at other factors besides SATs become admissions drivers.

You scores are high enough to get you considered, which is all SAT scores do at Ivies anyway.

is being lower going to hurt my chances or do they just look at the superscore? i think i mustve bubbled in something wrong that day.

No - you are sweet. A 2310 superscore is a 2310. They are so done looking at your SATs after 40 seconds. Get workin' on those essays!

Great score but, unfortunately it takes more than a number to get in. Even with high scores like yours, you are competing with 7% (most likely less for next year's class) of about the best of the best.

I took the SAT 3 times:

    Superscore: 2310
    CR+M: 1540 (one sitting, 3rd test)

I got a likely letter last week.

chillax: I would have loved to get that 2180! That's still an amazing score, by anyone's standards!

Scores alone won't get you into any ivy league.

has anyone seen a nice increase from the January test to the March SAT1 exams in the past??
I only had # weeks to focus on CR and sat for it....i hope it was not a wasted test??
Felt a small bit better on CR but not really sure..

Whoever posted that SAT's aren't the only thing they look at when selecting who gets admitted is absolutely right. There are students who get under 1800 who get accepted into ivy league colleges. So just make sure you haw decent EC's and grades to increase your chances.
