I'm not much for feeding my self esteem to the wolves with posting a chance in here, but how is everyone coming along with their applications? I am SO incredibly close to submitting... just waiting on one more teacher recommendation letter and for my guidance counselor to do all his work. I've worked on my essays religiously, and will be working to improve my SAT scores in a week and two days! I'm doing anything I can for Columbia!
Wow, overachievers xD I was not nearly this prepared last year.
I would strongly encourage those who finish early to sit on their apps for a little. My friend turned his in early October and spent the next two months regretting that he hadn't included x or y. (Anecdotal, i know) Siemens is also a factor for some of you. But all the more power to you if you do it early. There aren't any advantages in the process either way as long as you do it pre-deadline
Don't forget you can always email or call (calling may be safer) with updates along the way such as winning an award/competition, elected to an officer position, or made a significant accomplishment.
Extremely nervous for this! I've wanted columbia for 4 years, yet I'm always being discouraged by my peers and parent. My stats aren't great, but I've been working diligently on this app. RD to Chicago, Vanderbilt, and UT Austin ;-) bonne chance mon copains! (Good luck my friends!)
I just signed the binding signature for Columbia ED. :s It seems very final. I love the school, but where did the time go??!?!? haha. Well I've been working towards Columbia for a while (and I'm sure everyone here has as well) so good luck to all!!
Hi,
I'm an international student and Columbia is my dream school, for a number of reasons including the core curriculum.
I have to retake my SAT reasoning and am taking my 2 subject tests in...3 days :O
Just wanted to ask a few questions:
1) Is there any disadvantage to submitting my application on October 30th (a day or two before the deadline)? Like, how do you "sign" the document that binds you ED? Does that take time or..?
2) Do you think it's better to apply ED with weaker SAT stats or bump up your stats and apply RD?
I just sent in my app...so nervous. Ive been working on those essays for a month. I hope that, high ACT, lots of extracurriculars and kickass recommendations make up for my 3.9 gpa weighted. I'm so scared.
Columbia is ranked as #2 in my Questbridge rank. I'll have to see if QB accepts me as a finalist but if I am, that's my ED, along with Yale, UChicago, Penn, and Princeton.
Yeah i mentioned earlier in the thread, as Adezar1, that i was considering ED to Columbia (Fu engineering for Environmental Engineering)

lots of EC's and i think my essay is pretty good too, based on what other people have said. But yeah, good luck to you all, and may the force be with you
Hi!
Already submitted my ED app. So nervous/excited!
I'm also applying to
Barnard
URichmond
Bowdoin
Boston College
Villanova
Wesleyan
Vassar
as well as my state school and another local safety. I'm hoping to end up at Columbia either through CC or Barnard as there is a specific academic program I'm interested in.
