I think my interview went well. It was pretty much the standard describe yourself, what you do, what you like about Columbia, etc. she said I did fantastically so I hope that's a good sign.
But I am expecting a rejection either way.
if i get accepted, i'll first run around the house like a madman. then take the car, drive down to new york city and get my hands on a columbia sweatshirt. then maybe i'll throw a giant party after december 15th.
Im expecting rejection I just don't see how I can get in with all of these amazing students applying. I just hope that I and everyone here will end up where they should be by the end of this whole college process. Good Luck to all!!
Actually, I have one more question that I'm pretty sure no one knows the answer to but I'm going to ask just in case there is one person who does.. How many students applied early decision to Columbia this past year? I know that some schools have began releasing the data, but I'm not sure about Columbia. If anyone knows, please let me know! thanks

You should not compare yourself to those that participate and post their stats and ECs here. I would guess that you are seeing a sample of < 1% of all applicants on CC.
Those that post on CC are most likely skewed toward the "eager beavers" that are really tuned into the whole college process. I suspect the non CC applicant pool is quite different and not as over the top crazy qualified.
@raca1111, I'm checking daily, and Columbia has not yet released its early decision application count. I'm hoping Columbia'll be more like Dartmouth this year (12.5% decrease in number of apps) than like UPenn (5.6% increase for an all-time high this year). But considering Columbia didn't suffer from any major scandals, I'm guessing the number will increase (maybe that's also why they're withholding the information for so long this year :/).
Arrgh, I still don't see my test scores on the tracking website. CB sent them in a week ago.. Did anybody take the November SAT I? CB sent the Nov test scores yesterday. I know the make-up Nov SATs won't count because they're too late, but I'm hoping the tests taken on the regular date will count..
@raca1111, (2011-2012) Columbia received 3,088 ED applications, a decrease from last year’s 3,229 applications, of which a record low of 19.6 percent were accepted. CU receives fewer ED applicants for 2016
It seems Columbia, unlike other Ivy schools, announce their ED applicant pool just before the ED result release, on early-mid December. (2012-2013) ED application pool data has not been released yet.
@ ChiselCheeks, I completely agree with you, but it's really quite discouraging to look at past ED results threads and see these applicants with 2300+ SATs, 4.0 GPAs, and amazing EC's get deferred/rejected. Though the process is pretty much a crapshoot, I'm anticipating a deferral as well (please, no rejection lol) with my unhooked, average stats, ORM status.
AAh thanks guys.. I'm hoping we don't see too big of an increase in the applicant pool, but only time will tell. and thanks for the reassurance ChiselCheeks!
Had my interview yesterday. The lady is a senior at CU. She was absolutely amazing and I felt it went really well. We had so much in common, (primarily being overly-anal which I allowed me to breathe a sigh of relief and become more relaxed) But she told me she thought I'd be a great fit. She's originally from the same area I'm in so I think that's why they chose her to facilitate the interview. I think I have a shred of hope now?
AMRF08 honestly, I'm pretty sure I needed this interview more than anyone else, because my stats are quite low....like...LOW. I kinda felt as if they looked at my app (not the writing) and said "who is this chick that has the gall to apply to our prestigious school with scores like THAT?" lol.
But if you're like everyone else on CC, you're a magnificent candidate, and I wish you all the best'
