We got the list of classes in the mail today. It's a subset of what's posted in the website. Will the missing ones be offered in the spring session?
Also how much is the minimum donation and when do we suppose to give it?

the list of classes are all of them offered this fall. The ones on the website are everything that has historically been offered, and the spring session may or may not (probably not) offer them.
The donation is optional, so there is no minimum. But I would say if your family conditions are good, then just donate the recommended amount. You give it to them when they ask for it, i guess after classes start.

@SilverAurora Thanks.
What is the recommended amount?
The Graph Theory got dropped from the website. I'm sure it was there last year because that's what my daughter was planning to take.

Hey Does anyone know if the SHP courses are considered "college level" courses?? For example, can I put it on common app?

I would guess not since you do not take them for credit and you get no grade.

How are everyone's courses going? Calculus in the complex plane is confusing (more of an analysis class than anything else) but really interesting.

My D loves the orgo class she took this semester, there are a lot of lab involved, I think taking this class after completed her AP Chem last year in junior definitely helps, they are all seniors except one, so I believe Columbia also has their standard for selection.

Help with Application

Does anyone know if I should put Math-1 Integrated in the application for Columbia Science Honors Program if I took it in 9th grade? I am a sophomore and also need to know if I should enter in the grades and courses that I am currently enrolled in into the application?

Yes you should, all math and science classes. I suppose if you had an optional course that you didnt do too well in you could leave it out, but the school sends a transcript anyway so...

Course descriptions just got mailed out. What is everyone thinking of taking? I'm leaning towards math methods in physical sciences right now.

from the cshp website (Columbia University Science Honors Program)

"There are two scheduled Saturday dates for the entrance examination in the spring of 2013: April 6 and April 27. Students will be asked to indicate their preferred examination date; however, the SHP cannot guarantee that a student will receive his/her first choice. The examination will be from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. "
