Aside from that, it will not factor into your life in New York. If you stay for the summer, you will be in a dorm where A/C is provided. RAs are selected by application + interview + group role-play session, and you can apply the spring of your Sophomore year to be an RA your junior year. Carman's singles are indeed only for RAs.
