All of the self-doubting Columbia ED UChicago EA people on here make me feel like I'm not alone; one can only try, right?
I've also found them to be the closest schools to one another.
Although it will never happen, I'm still going for Columbia ED.
Today, however, I learned from a UChicago assistant dean of admissions that applying EA won't increase your chances at all--it's not the same level of commitment as ED--and if you are looking to prove yourself in your senior year, you should go regular and avoid being deferred.
I just feel like I am proving myself so much more this year, it's kind of too bad there isn't any more time; I do want the whole process to be over so I can focus more on high school though.
So I will pray for that ED.

Am applying RD. I really like Columbia, but Yale comes out at top, at least for me.
As for the race comment, I think it is definitely a component. That spot given to the URM kid is a spot someone else won't get. There are also a disproportionate amount of Asian students applying to top colleges in relation to their population in the United States.
But there actually is a huge Asian population at Columbia. Though it's interesting to note that most of the Asian people I know at Columbia happen to Chinese-Canadians...

I was skeptical about applying to Columbia.
I think the school isn't that great and the professors are condescending and arrogant. ( like the student body.)
At least thats what my brother said.
Then again i never know ,Columbia just isn't my cup of tea.
I'm applying Brown , Princeton , Yale and NYU.

I am considering applying... I was rejected from Yale and even though my application is strong I am not ready to put myself out there again (reminds me of the dating game a litle). Fear of rejection, lol, I'm so lame.

I'm applying solely to Columbia GS. From what I understand, it's the only Ivy education available to nontraditional students that isn't a glorified night school.
