someone mentioned something about financial aid packages having to be finished by the end of this week for the decision or something? im not exactly sure what it was.. but i'm pretty sure that financial aid decisions are separate from admissions decisions because columbia is need-blind, so decisions aren't made along with financial aid decisions. there are two different offices that do that.. and we'll get an estimate i think in december (don't quote me im not sure, just what i think) and then we send more stuff in later (if admitted) and they give us the package. so packages and decisions are separate

oh and apparently (for clarification purposes) applications did NOT go up 25%, probably just 4%, including SEAS and the College (this was mentioned in a different thread) ... so this probably won't affect the date when decisions are released by thaaat much.

No, but something else did. Columbia has been so consistent the last two years regarding the notification date. One would expect the decision to be the same if everything else remained relatively the same. I wonder what caused the week long delay to the 15th.

Yeah, this might seem like a dumb question, but will we EVER have a definitive date? Does anybody know if the date is actually announced before decisions are released, or is everybody just supposed to be surprised?

carou: It was me who mentioned the finaid stuff. I think Columbia (despite being need-blind) sends out the finaid and admissions stuff together. I could be wrong, but I think I read that in the RD thread or something... maybe someone who's gone through the Columbia admissions process before could elaborate?

Ummm I just finished reading "Here is New York" by EB White for school and every line I was like "columbia is in ny. this essay really reminds me of columbia." and he even talked about Lions in the essay! At first I thought it was in reference to the Columbia Lions but it turns out it was just a figure of speech. Anyways, I HAVE COLUMBIA ON THE BRAIN.
