Sat II Double Trouble!

Hello Columbians, prospective and current! Quick question: I waited to take my SAT II subject tests (Chemistry and Math II) because a) I was not sure I would be applying to any schools that would require them and b) I had to spend all summer studying by myself since my school does not really know how to help kids prepare for these tests. Bottom line: the date I am looking to take these is October 10th. My question: Is it at all possible for me to do well on both these tests if I take them in the same day? If not, am I just screwed, or can I take them on the November 7th date?

Extra info: I am applying ED for SEAS to major in BME. Also, I am not such a good test taker. I psyche myself out quite early on if I hit anything that gives me problems. Any advice on that front would be helpful as well. Hope to meet you all at Low Library sometime!

I am applying myself There are a lot of people at my school that have taken 3 tests in one day and score in the high 700s. It is just a matter of how well-prepared you are. Columbia will also accept scores for the November test date for ED applicants.

Thank you! I am putting all my marbles in the Kaplan study guide basket since, due to an unfortunate scheduling error, I was not able to take AP Chemistry last year and haven't taken an actual chemistry course since sophomore year. :S But I have confidence in sunshine! I have confidence in rain! Gotta love Julie Andrews. I have a Purdue Chemistry major helping me out now, but he has to leave in like, 10 days.

But I digress. Good luck on your application! What are you interested in studying and why Columbia?

Hey supernova, as another suggestion I think that in addition to Kaplan, you might want to check out Barron's as well. The more practice the better, and I remember Barron's mock tests being quite close to the actual thing.

Either way, good luck =)

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about taking them all at once. I took three at the same time and still managed to get 750+ scores on them.

Also, little known fact: if you sign up for, say, Chemistry and Math II, if you want to do something different when you show up on test day you could take, for example, Bio, US History, and Literature. I had signed up for Math II, but I didn't think I was prepared, so upon arriving I decided to take US History instead.

Oh, and for RDers, December test date is still fine; that's when I took mine and Columbia still received my scores fine.
