So let's say hypothetically someone gets in under Early Decision... and Hypothetically they're grades drop a little. No D's or F's, but do you think they would revoke admission because of a C or two?

@rajincajunfire:

Don't get sucked into senioritis. None of us here speaks for the admissions committee at Columbia or elsewhere it's always best if you try your best for senior year. It's unlikely however, that 1-2 Cs will cause you to lose your place.

But if, after you've tried your best, you do get those Cs and Columbia does revoke your app, make sure you have a bloody good reason as to why you did badly in the first place.

I'm doing the application online.

Is the Secondary School Year Report the same thing that the school's guidance counselor fills out online? Like there's a downloadable form that's to be filled out by the guidance counselor, is it the same thing as the Guidance Counselor recommendation?

does anyone know where I can find the ED contract with Columbia? I heard that I need to sign that contract if I'm applying ED but I have not found it anywhere on Columbia website or the online application.

Columbia never sent me an interview request. Probably because I'm doing fee waiver. Lame.

Early Decision University Selection

Hello there,
In the same topic I have got a question.
My Early Decision Univeristy Selection criteria are
1. Large university
2. Diversity of students
3. Top in Economics
4. Liked by students for quality of life
5. Good weather not too cold
My SAT score is 2130 and taking it again, acads are in top 15% in my school, doing IB, I am NOT so much into community service or sports etc
Has anybody got recommendations? Thank you for your advise.
SS

@Obstinate: that has nothing to do with your interview availability (or in this case, lack thereof). interviews in each area are assigned by the alumni chair in that area who will not be able to view any information except for your major interests, career interests, EC interests and other basic Part 1 stuff. this is what my own interviewer (once the chair for my area) told me.

I'm applying early at Columbia, and was going to send my SAT scores today, but on the College Board website it says it takes four to five weeks to send them.

"Scores are delivered to the additional colleges and programs requested approximately four weeks after we process your request. Please remember that an additional week may be needed for the score recipients to process your scores, once they receive them."

(In another place it says five weeks).

That sort of floored me, because I can't believe that every single person who applies early to any college is aware that it really takes THAT crazy-long.

My problem makes me especially nervous, because the Columbia website repeats over and over again not to rush scores, but it qualifies that statement by saying that they get them online (by which it would be obvious that they receive them much more quickly, but they still don't actually say that they do). Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Don't worry about it. I had a similar freakout less than a week ago and began asking people, who told me a more realistic estimate was like 1-2 weeks. My own scores were sent within four working days. Don't worry, and don't rush.

Phew, thanks! My other issue is that I didn't list Columbia as one of the colleges to send my scores to when I took the October SAT II's. I called the SAT office and they said that now I cannot send them until October 29th, when they're published. Do you think I can send them then to be considered along with my ED?

They accept scores from the November test, so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Submitted my ED app two days ago such a relief to have it over with! Now the waiting begins...

Have the rest of you had interviews already? How long did it take for you to be contacted by an alum?

Just submitted my Part II about two minutes ago.

@leah123: In my case, I was contacted 17-18 days after I submitted my Part I. But you can't expect the waiting time for an interview (or the availability of an interview in the first place) to be the same or even similar for applicants in different regions. It's all luck of the draw but as everyone keeps saying, not having an interview will not jeopardize your application.
