Columbia Interview!

SO, apparently mine is next Thursday at 7:45 am at this coffee place where most middle schoolers go...it is also the morning when I find out my Oct SAT scores haha, what a glorious morning. Anyway, has anyone had their interview yet? My Yale one was an ABSOLUTE disaster so I am not even going to apply there, but would anyone mind sharing their experiences for the Columbia interview etc? I am applying ED
My interviewer is a graduate of '85 and has a patent on something to do with business management and customer service. Yippee!

haha damn, 7:45 am? thats brutal, make sure you have a couple cups of that coffee. i havent had mine yet, but others have told me that its supposed to be an easy going interview. they ask you about your activities and your classes and about school in general. maybe about what you think about columbia and your questions about the school and why you really want to go there. he might ask about what you wanna study too. good luck. and how was your Yale one a disaster?

I submitted Part I pretty late in Sept so I am pretty surprised I got mine so early. 5 other people at my school haven't gotten interviews yet so I don't know exactly why this is, since they submitted theirs before mine probably.

I don't even remember what happened but major events were: my boyfriend called me during it because I didn't think my phone was on so I didn't check before I went in...he called to wish me good luck. I also talked about this book which I only half finished but she thought I had finished and it was her favorite book and I wasnt given a chance to clarify so I kind of talked about that book for a while....and then I don't know, I misspoke about al ot of things, like I gave the complete opposite image of my involvement in school and such, and for some reason I talked about like writing poetry in the Lit magazine, which was a completely one-time thing and I have NO idea how my brain jumped there but yeah, it wwasn't that bad but it was bad.

I submitted Part I just a little bit ago and just got contacted for an interview. Its at the guy's work office apparently :x I'm super super bad at calming my nerves so I'm thinking of opting out of the interview for fear of coming off as a complete idiot. Then again, I need all the help I can get, so that may not be such a good idea. Good Luck everyone!

Yeah definitely not haha because that would definitely initiate a negative response...I'll just have to do my best and hope it's good enough

My interviewer spoke for about 5 minutes before the actual interview itself began. He said that unless you do something really retarded, its unlikely that what happens during the interview would affect the admissions decision negatively. He did say, however, that if an interviewee did not show up for the interview or if he/she denied the interview request, that would reflect negatively on the applicant.

Oh yayyy ok that makes me feel a lot better haha. Is there a specific set of questions the interviewers ask? I heard that Columbia is one of the schools that gives a list of questions to interviewers.

by opting out of your interview, you are basically begging for a rejection letter. and im not even being over dramatic by saying that, because the school thinks that you aren't interested or that you dont think theyre important enough

i just had my interview yesterday, and it went very well.
Just be urself.
that sounds like an incredibly pointless piece of advice, but really, that's all there is to it. Well, also be polite and all that.
