Reccomendation and App separate?

Hi, my app is all around finished but I am waiting on a teacher rec. Is it okay for me to send the app now and allow the teacher to send his rec online at a later time or do I have to wait for my app to note that both teachers have submitted their recs before hitting that submit button?

On a separate note, are those 250 character words the entire Columbia supplement portion? Compared to apps to colleges like Cornell and MIT, where you have tons of extra essays, Columbia's app seems to be a bit bare. I am worried that there is a hidden web page that I'll find at the last minute with 5 extra essays I have to do. If anyone could confirm, that would be great.

those 250 character supplements are the only thing; there's also a 500 character "why did you want to join" response. all around, the columbia app is pretty easy. as for the teacher recommendations, i think you'd better get them in before the deadline
