I don't get it. The girl:guy ratio here is 2:1. What's everyone complaining about?

I'm sure all you current CU guys would agree with me. Yeah, the girls here and the dating scene in general isn't on par with Penn State. But I think you all realize that, with the inclusion of Barnard, the girl-to-guy ratio on the Columbia campus is 2-to-1 right? If every girl was paired with a guy, there would be thousands of girls left still single.

Columbia U is the only school in the Ivy League where girls outnumber guys by 2 to 1.

I don't get what everyone's complaining about.

Anyway, just something for you horndogs to ponder about.

Happy New Year!

Because it is easy to feel dissatisfaction when you spend a night on the town and you run into runway models.

But I am with you. You have a smart group of folks that are more urban than other Ivy peers (aka better dressed), there ought to be a considerable number of people worth it. If you're a guy, it is pretty nice deal. If you don't think so, you just have dissatisfaction syndrome (and sucks to be you).

And if you're a girl - at least there is a subway and a city (and a couple thousand grad students to even the playing field).

If anything, those NYU sorority girls tend to throw great parties while playing fast and loose with their morals.

Perhaps this is elaborate flame by a Barnard girl/mom attempting to brainwash people into thinking that Barnard is part of Columbia and an Ivy League school?

I'm not sure I'd agree that Columbia kiddies are better dressed than other Ivy kiddies simply because they're in NYC. Obviously some bimbo at NYU Tisch is going to be well dressed and trendy and up on the latest from Fashion Week, but Columbia girls don't really fall within that framework. Moreover, it's my observation that Columbia likes people who are slightly eccentric / non-conformist a whole lot more than some of the other Ivies.

They have morals?

Haha, true. I suppose not. Columbia girls have always had the good sense and plain decency to not associate with the likes of me, whereas NYU girls really like my tattoos.

I suppose if someone were to choose based solely on the dating scene, they'd end up at Penn State (which actually comes as a surprise to me since I thought girls with stereotypically hot bodies were found at southern state schools like FSU) but the trade-off is that then you're at Penn State...doesn't seem worth it to me.

Not only Penn State instead of Columbia, but State College PA instead of New York City *shudder*.
