Second Common App Essay

In addition to writing the required first essay on the common app, I will also be completing a second essay explaining special circumstances. I was wondering how long this essay should be, and whether it should be written in a traditional college essay manner (with an introduction, anecdotes, supporting information, and conclusion), or if it should be more basic than that.

Also, since the Common App says you can use this space to explain additional qualifications, would I be allowed to write an essay about special circumstances, AND attach a resume detailing my achievements? Or should I just mail a resume separately?

There are no guidelines on length or format for the additional information section. Use the space in whatever way you need to but don't overwhelm the person reading your app with too much information or things that repeat what you or your recs already said elsewhere. It is fine to attach additional information that supplements more than one part of the app, so yes, you can include both a supplemental essay and an EC resume.
