The common app only has 8 spots for AP/SAT II scores, and I'm unsure on which scores to leave out, or whether to attach any in additional info.

My scores are as follows:

5's on AP Human Geo, AP Bio, AP Chem, APES, APUSH, AP Lang
800's on Math II and US History
790 on Bio E
780 on Physics

My guidance counselor told me that AP's don't really matter very much in admissions, so I should leave two of my AP exams off. I'm not sure I trust him on this, since to me, it would seem like leaving off an AP score when I had taken the class would make it look like I'm covering up a 2, and leaving off one of my two self studies would make me feel like I wasted money by taking it.

To me, it makes more sense to leave off the SAT II scores which duplicate AP Exams (Bio, US History), since I sent the scores in with my SAT I anyway.

Any advice would be helpful.

You sent score reports for the SATIIs? So leave 2 of them off if you need to leave something off.

When you don't have room, you put them in the "Additional Information" section near the end of the application.

I've been told that it looks kind of test-obsessive to use the additional info. I'll consider that, though.

Thanks. I think I may just ignore my counselor's advice and leave off the SAT II's that duplicate AP's. They should be able to figure things out from the score reports.

Put only your 5's and your 800's. Use additional info to highlight more about your personality, your interests, etc.

I would NOT leave off the SAT II's. Even though they are officially sent as well, they are more important in the admissions process than AP scores, and your SAT II's are great, so put them in. Then put in as many AP scores (top ones) as there is room for. The other AP scores can go in Addtl Info section or you could leave them off.

I would put whatever does not fit in the application slots into the additional information section. Lots of kids have taken 4 subject tests, but they don't report all their scores because they are not all as good as yours. Don't leave any of those off, they are accomplishments worth showing.

Even though they aren't my best scores, bio and physics are my strongest academic interests, so I'd prefer not to leave them off. Colleges generally regard 790's and 780's as equivalent to 800's anyway.

I think I'll just use the additional info section, and put the two "extra" scores on a separate page from the abstract of my paper that I'm attaching.
