A curious thing Happened?

Good Morning CC,
My young senior wanted to open an alternate version of his common app, so that he can add new info. He did so and then added one of his potential colleges. He started working on his application, not finished yet, and had not send in his application.

But, then he received an email from the college saying they were pleased he was considering the college and asked him to continue his app.

So, my question is do the colleges know if a student creates alternate version of the application, and do they know when you remove the colleges. as well?

oh btw, this was a ivy school.

any thoughts?

I don't think they get notifications because I've added Columbia to my CommonApp (and started the supplement), but they keep emailing me to start my application.

S put in the names of a few schools he was considering as safeties on the common app to view their essays, and I supposed started the supplement, but then decided not to submit since he was admitted into rolling decision schools. He has received letters (and phone calls!)from the safeties asking him to complete the application. So they do know when you start it, not sure about the alternative application if that is of any help...

Yes, I received same notifications from colleges even before I started their application. I am not sure if they know when we remove the colleges from the list though. Can someone cfm on this one?

Yes, the schools do get some type of email from the common app when you add them to your list of schools. School cannot however know which other schools you are applying to.

I doubt if the school gets an email if you removed them though.

No I don't. But if you add a school to your alternate version that you did not move over from your version one, then the new school is probably alerted that you have put them on your common app list like any new school you put on to either version.

I don't think the schools are aware of the different versions only that a common app student has put them down as school that they may be receiving an application from.

The link below will help. And no, colleges do not know if you have created an alternate version.

I would like to know what information schools see before I submit my application and if they can see other schools to which I m applying
