Since I had to space out my payments for financial reasons, I submitted tonight (12/31) for a payment due 1/1, but it says effective payment date is 1/2.

How will the college see this? Late? If so, will it prevent me from getting in?

no your fine. aslong as it was submitted b4 the deadline. the 1/2 is just when they will process it, they'll know you actually paid b4 the deadline and that processing just takes a couple days.

NYU refuses to send the common application unless I have submitted payment, and i have. it's just not processed yet. Can I still send my application after the deadline?? I paid on 12/30/09. Help me please.

Also, I found that in paying for S's applications, the payment did not show up on the Common App website unless I first clicked on a little "Finish" button on the lower right on the NetPay page. Not sure if that's your problem, but thought I would mention it.

As to the effective date -- for all S's payments, although NetPay showed an effective payment date of 1/4/10, the Common App shows that the payment was submitted on the date (12/31/09) that I made the payment online. For the one college that required that payment be made before the app could be submitted, there was no problem submitting the application.
