"My Colleges"

Can I use the "My Colleges" page on Commonapp.com as a list for schools I'm interested in? Or am I implying that I am definitely applying to a school by adding it to the list?

You have the option of removing it until you submit the application.

So for now, it can just be an interest list. It's just nice to have the supplements ahead of time, most of which haven't arrived yet.

...atleast I hope I'm right, because I put Princeton on there and I have absolutely no intention of applying there...

Okay good. I assumed that it wouldn't matter but just wanted to make sure I was not completely misunderstanding the system.

Another Question... When colleges say they require recommendations, is there a "Common app" recommendation form that all schools use? Or will I have to get teachers to fill out a different rec form for each school?

Well, according to the Common App, they have a section entitled "School Forms". In this section, you can "invite" as many teachers as you like (or are required by the school to which you want to apply) and one guidance counselor. I watched a video on it last night on their site (i can't find the link) and it explained that all you have to do is click "invite" and submit the teacher/ guidance counselor's information and they send them a notification via e-mail. Most schools use this system for recommendations but you'll have to check the school's website to make totally sure.

There is a Teacher Rec, as well as a Counselor Rec, that you fill out for all the schools that take the CommonApp.

What if I have a rec from someone who is neither a teacher nor counselor?

Are colleges notified when you add them to 'My Colleges' or take them off the list?

Okay, so there IS a Common App recommendation form.

But are there any notable schools that, just to be difficult, require their own special rec form?
