Activities: elaborate or not?

The Common App Activities section doesn't really give you enough space to elaborate. But I don't really have that much to elaborate, so I'm afraid if I list it again under the Extra Info section, I'll just be repeating the majority of what I said. For ex:

Vocational Bible School: decorating committee; drama team; worship and praise team- teach song movements

I'm short 4 characters. =_= I don't really want to repeat this on the Extra Info Session just so I can explain what the worship and praise team does. Can I shorten Vocational Bible School to VBS? I don't know if the admissions officer will recognize this abbreviation.

I'm having the same problem with my other activities, like community service, etc... I don't have enough room to specify the departments/stations in the hospitals in which I've worked, which ties into my career. Should I list it again under the Extra Info session so I can elaborate more fully, even though it might be redundant?

Character Trickery

If you're only 4 characters short, just pull a few tricks: change the "and" to "&", and leave out a space somewhere. In essays, this isn't such a good idea, but here, it's practical and not a big deal.

even when i do the character trickery, i'm in the same boat as OP. i have a LITTLE more to elaborate on my activities but i'm not sure if it warrants a separate resume.
