When my son tried to submit his common app on Friday, a notice prevented him from doing so. (He did not experience any problems w/ the supplement.) Turns out his GC had been "invited" to submit a recommendation but since her recs are sent via snail mail, not electronic, the application status was deemed incomplete and could not be processed. It actually said "declined request". Finally, after trying this several times, we resent her an invitation. This allowed him to submit his application.

Did anyone experience this? If so, how did you remedy the problem?

Just leave the email blank when inviting teachers if they are doing it offline

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked his status just now. The counselor's recommendation is not listed as "invited" or in red with a "declined request" as it was a few days ago, but now as "Offline Provider". When I discovered this problem, I also notified his GC, who may have made a mistake and clicked "deny". All's well...
