transfers from cc?

Hello! New to the site.
Can someone please tell me... what stats are looked at when you are transferring from a community college. I'd like all the details possible because I'm trying to get into very good schools. I know your college GPA and extracurriculars are looked at for example. But what kind of extracurriculars would they be thinking about that would be available in community college, how do recommendations work? Can you only get them from your professors? How closely to private schools look into you Higschool history? Because I graduated early, before even starting junior year.

What about selecting classes? My mother says that you can't pick, it's set with your major but my counselor told me otherwise and I don't know what I'm confusing.

At my university Illinois Institute of Technology we don't look at your high school record or ACT scores if you have completed 2 years at a Community College. Rather we look at your academic record in relation to the quality of the Community College. Not all of them give the same level of preparation. letters of recommendation are best from your CC professors. make sure you choose one who knows you pretty well and whose course(s) you have done well in.

Good Luck
