learning English

I'm from a non-English speaking country
for going to study aboard,Ihave some problems about learning English:
is it true that if i rememeber vocabularies(used in daily life u know),and know what it means in my mother language, then I will have less problems living aboard?
is learning English mean rememeber vocabularies
