Most annoying type of CC student

What kind of stereotypical CC student annoys you most? For example:

-the constantly drunk party animal who is just a dead body in class, hoping for a C

-the know-it-all older person who goes off on spiels about his/her "life experiences," which may or may not relate to the topic at hand

-the know-it-all older person who just knows everything and makes everyone else look bad (and makes you wonder why they're even taking the class at all)

-the older person who brings the tape recorder and/or goes through 5 notebooks; has to write down every word the professor says

Adult students who go on and on about irrelevant life experiences for sure! Or the adult students with the rolling backpacks... or the girls hiding their texting behind books... or the students who have no idea what their goals are and end up staying at the CC for like a decade. But I guess that's not annoying, just kind of perplexing.

The people who groan about going to a CC because they can't afford to go to a university. Basically, they are too good for CC and they want to make sure everyone else knows it. Ugh!

It's kinda sad the way we're picking on all the old people...some of them do act really freaky at CC's though!

1. My least favorite are the people who constantly apologize for being at a CC. The have to qualify every career-related statement with, "Oh, I only plan on being here a couple of semesters..." or "When I get to a real school..." etc.

2. A close second would be the people who are somehow annoyed by the successes/ambitions of other students. I hated it when I'd heard kids make fun of students who wanted to sit up front, studied hard, and transferred to good schools. It didn't happen often but there was certainly a contingent of people on campus who were way too quick to say something like, "That test was retarded. You gotta have no life to get an 'A' in this class."

The funny thing was, these were always the kids who were excited for the semester to end. I never understood this. They never really seemed invested in the act of being students. What's the difference between May and July if you're not doing your homework and not showing up to class during either of them?

3. I tutored math at my CC. We had a lab where students show up, sign in, and get help in any number of courses. I can't tell you how many times this happened:

Student: Yo, I need to get help with my math homework.
Me: Okay, let's take a look at your homework. Which course is it?
Student: Uh, this one.

[This is where the student pulls a folded piece of paper from his pocket. It's his homework, untouched.]

Me: Okay, this is [insert course name]. I'm familiar with this. Where would you like to begin?
Student: I don't know. I just want to get it done.

[This is where I sigh, realizing that some students believe that the math lab is for getting other students to do your homework. Often they'd show up without THE BOOK, a PENCIL, or, when necessary, a CALCULATOR. My last semester at CC I came to the campus Monday morning of spring break to work on a big project. From the window of the building where I was working I could see the bus stop. Coming off the bus that morning I saw one of my habitually-absent math students disembark and then look around incredulously, lost in wondering where the hell everyone was.]

Oh, and by the way, nationwide there are significantly more "older" students than traditional students at community colleges. In my school, just as an example, 7 out of 10 students are 22 or older. So, you can make fun of them, but you're kind of crashing their party.
