No, you don't need clarence. It should automatically let you register if you're currently taking the pre-req

Hello !!!
I graduated from high school summer 09', and for very unfortunate reasons I wasn't able to continue my education right after high school. I am now 20 years old, more mature and able to go back to school. I applied for the fall semester at MT. SAC April 25, 2012. I'm a little worried because I still haven't gotten my registration date and I honestly have no clue what to expect from college. I'd like to transfer to Cal Poly to hopefully become a Mechanical Engineer, but I honestly don't know what classes to take or how many units I'm supposed to have to transfer to Cal Poly Pomona.
I guess my main questions are,
how long will it take for me to receive my registration date?
how many units am I going to need, GE's...?
and
Am I going to have an opportunity to talk to a counselor once I register?

@boxing543 - #1)You should be getting your registration date within the next two weeks. Current active students haven't even received their date either. However, registration for fall begins on July 19, so if you haven't your date within a week of that date, I would contact the Admissions office and find out whats going on.
#2) I can't tell you how many units you're going to need, because that all depends on your level of skill in english and math. I would highly recommend making an appointment for the English, Math, and Chemistry placement tests as soon as possible. The sooner the better. Aim for placement in English 1A, Math150(minimum, especially for Mechanical Enginner), and Chem50 if at all possible. That way you do not waste any time taking prerequisites.
#3) As long as you've received your acceptance letter to the college, I'm pretty sure you can schedule an appointment to see a counselor. In fact, you should do this now! Have them talk to you about CSU requirements for transfer and all that jazz, but use other resources as well such as assist.org.
Hope this helps and good luck at Mt. Sac!

Talk to a counselor quickly about how much you need to get done. If you need to get the physics series done and you're not comfortable starting in 4a, you need to get 2a done ASAP. You'll also need to get as much of the math done as possible, most transfers (in the sciences and engineering) get 280/285 done. On the page I'm about to link there's an e-mail for Oscar Flores and I believe he's pretty knowledgeable for the engineering path where a typical drop-in counselor may not be. Mt. Where I plan to transfer to:UC Davis
Major:Animal Science-Pre-veterinary to veterinary medicine
GPA:2.96
High School:LPHS
I am going to Mt sac in the Fall semester and am a little confused on the priority registration and all the tools I need to register. I am a current Mt SAC student in the AICES (or something like that) and trying to get into Bridges program.
Anyway, I'm trying to get priority registration, I already did most of the information neede to register. Just wanted to know if there was a specific date I needed to get an appointment. Course I already went to the orientation, and I did all the paperwork and taxes. But even though they said it was fine on the website it says I'm missing the verification worksheet and my parents taxes. They said it would take the hold in the first of june, but it's still there. What should I do, and when does the registraion for priority of Mt sac Fall semester begin??? Please and thank you. |

@vtlord - It's never too late to take the placement test. I would say just go get it done asap, why wait until Tuesday? Either way you'll know before registration what classes you can get into. And yes, the test score is instant.
@SOSplz - I'm not familiar with either of those programs, so I can't really help you there. However, if you're supposed to have clearance by now then I would contact someone in Admissions. If they don't know, they'll point you in the right direction. Also, I'm pretty sure priority registration starts exactly on the 19th.

@vtlord - Priority registration is only for disabled students, athletes, and those in student government, I believe.

It is also for the competitive debate team (Forensics) and high school seniors migrating with the Connect 4 program.

does anyone know how fast classes fill up? reason being is i was planning to take an assessment for english on the 17th and calculus placement test 18th. after wandering around my portal, i went and tried to schedule an appointment. Everything was full for the entire week! wth! i remember calling the assessment center a few weeks ago and was told that i could walk in and sign up for a test and take that same day. priority registration is on the 19 and i have an english test scheduled on that day (results will be ready on the 23rd) and have the calc placement on the 26th (results will be ready in 24hrs). im really worried i wont have a chance to get into the class i want. what should i do?! should i call the assessment center just in case they have a spot open for that day? argh!! i've screwed up college even before it starts.
