Why can't I view my sent private messages?

Every time I look at my sent message folder, it says that I do not have any sent messages. Do I need to change the settings to have it save messages? Are the messages I've sent totally gone? There's some information in some of them that I'd like retrieved.

Unfortunately, your messages are inaccessible, unless you can get the recipient to send a copy back to you; mods or admins may be able to comment as to whether the messages are gone forever. However, if you click on Private Messages under your name in the top right, and select Edit Options under Settings & Options in the left sidebar, then you should see the option to change your default setting for the following:

Quote:
When sending private messages the forum can make a copy of the message in your Sent Items folder.

x Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default
Good luck!

Augh. The people I'm in a conversation with aren't really replying lately so I suspect that they don't go online very often, but... who knows; maybe they will eventually. Well, thanks.

You can start saving copies of your sent messages going forward by updating the settings Tito mentioned, but it will not apply retroactively. If you're on good terms with those members to whom you've sent messages in the past your only option is to ask them very nicely to send a copy back to you

Seriously, though, I hope you can retrieve what you're looking for. Thanks!

Whenever i send a PM, it just leads me back to the Private Message page. It doesn't say your message has been sent or anything, and I haven't gotten any replies. Are these messages going through?

What's just as bad about the site is that if you want to search on your user name and see what and where you have posted, it just gives you random postings from about 2 or 3 weeks before. The lack of a simple search function that functions on this site is deplorable.

I haven't received replies on my messages and see 0 in my sent folder. Now I'm not sure if my messages sent at all? Do members have to have 50 posts before sending or receiving messages?

@HotCocoa...you have sufficient posts to send PMs. Did you see the settings TitoMorito pointed out earlier in the thread regarding saving sent messages?

Have you ever had success in receiving or sending PMs? Is is possible your inbox is full?

@placido240...if you click on your username in the upper-right, after the "Welcome" to view your profile, then clicks the Statistics tab, and then "Find all posts by placido240". The process itself takes about 15 seconds, but probably not the most intuitive. The search utilities are best for keyword searches (posts and thread titles). Our apologies for the inconveniences...

I did see those settings, I'm going to change it to that from now on. I'm just not sure about the two I already sent, and no, my inbox is completely empty...I've only tried sending two messages so far.

I believe you have to have 15 posts before sending a PM.
