Control Panel/Miscellaneous Options?

I would like to use a more advanced editor but the only option I have in the miscellaneous options menu in my control panel is the "forum skin". How can I see all of the other options that are listed in the "Help" info? It looks like I am missing 3 or 4 options.

Thanks!

Maine, See below....according to CC, I should have see all three 3 of these options in my CP under the Edit Options link. I only have "Forum Style" available.

Thanks!

What do the other settings do?

In your User CP, there is a section under Settings & Options named 'Edit Options'.

Miscellaneous Options include:
'Message Editor Interface' - This option allows you choose what kind of editor you will use when posting messages. Your choices include a basic text-only editor, a standard editor with clickable formatting controls, or a full WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) editor that will show your formatting as you type.
'Forum Style' - only available if there is more than one style (or 'skin') available and the administrator has enabled this selection
'Forum Language' - only available if there is more than one Language enabled. This will change the language in which all controls and board messages will be shown. It will not translate members' posts

Hmm, that's interesting. Where did you quote that section from? I have only "Forum Skin," also.

This information is in the FAQs:
These controls allow you to quickly and easily enter vBcode into your posts and messages. To use them, simply click the appropriate buttons or select items from the lists to enter vBcode.

There are three editor modes available: Basic, Standard and Enhanced mode. When using the Basic editor, there are no vBcode buttons to assist your editing. You must enter any vBcode markup manually in this editor.

When using Standard mode, highlight the text you wish to modify and press the appropriate button. This will place the proper vBcode tags around the selected text. Pressing a button while not having any selected text, will insert vBcode tags at your cursor. You may then enter your text between the tags.

When using the Enhanced mode, pressing a button will modify any highlighted text. This mode is a WYSIWYG mode, What You See Is What You Get, whereas your final post appears the same while being edited. Clicking a button while having no text selected will not have any effect.

To use the clickable smilies, simply click the smiley that you want to insert into your message, or click the Show All Smilies link (if available) to access the full list of smilies.

After I read that I did a search for WYSIWYG and the info in my post above popped up.

Hi, Scubasue! You are correct that our FAQ indicate these editing options should be available, but they are, in fact, disabled. I don't blame you at all for questioning this, as we've had similar questions arise about avatars, signatures and photo uploads...all of which appeared to be available, but were in fact not.

Yours is a case of incongruence between our FAQ and actual features available on the site. Upgrades and product enhancements have come and gone, while sections of the FAQ have not been updated to reflect these changes (mainly because we started with a stock FAQ for vBulletin). I will go ahead and submit an issue to our tech folks to make the necessary updates to the FAQ to better reflect current functionality on the site.

Thank you for keeping such a close eye on our community!
