To paraphrase Chicago's unoffical motto, "the place where your hopes and dreams go to die because everyone has better GPAs, ECs, test scores, and essays than you do."

^^^ Very true. You really have no idea if the stats people post are authentic or a complete fabrication. At times the advice being flung out reminds me somewhat of a person who goes up to strangers at the mall asking for college/career advice (would ANYONE actually do that????). I think anyone who participates here shouldn't be so naive as to accept every bit of advice at face value. You have to know how to separate what is useful from what is nonsense.

CC is a place for rejected losers to troll about their made-up accomplishments and for parents to do the same about their child's accomplishments. A typical CC post:

Yo, i gutz 2400 on SATZ! i'm sooooooooooooooooooo coooooooooooolllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yo can u chance me! lOlz XD i ReAlLy wAnNa gO 2 cOlLeGe! i'M sO cOoL aNd i wAnNa gO 2 hArVaRd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lulz sooooooooooooooooo cooooooooooolllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!1 i hOpE i dOnT gRoW uP 2 dElIvEr gArBage 1 dayyyyyyyyy. (Typical CC student)

Hello everybody. I would just like to boast about how much I enjoy trolling this website and creating a holographic image of a fabricated child who is capable of achieving superhuman academic feats. My (SON/DAUGHTER) has a 2400 SAT, 20 APs, and has tons of extracurriculars. I am an overly ambitious helicopter parent who would like to push that lazy child further so that he/she does not become a local garbage man. I would appreciate advice from any other stuck up know-it-all parents like me (Typical CC parent).

There you go. Hope you like it.

I'm a senior have been using it for the sat forums after I take it and to compare myself to the "chances" posts. Does anyone know what "bump" means? I see it on replies to those "chances" posts.

People are "bumping" their thread up the page, so it shows up more prominently. Please note that bumping is considered spam, so you shouldn't do it! If everybody did it, things would get kind of chaotic.

If I am telling some one about cc, I would call it a forum. My family calls it the imaginary friends.

This is how Urbandictioanry defines CC:
Urban Dictionary: College Confidential

I think CC is very informational given that I'm at the right subsection (aka not Chance Me Threads)
