I was shocked when I couldn't find a thread about it... Collegeconfidential gets a big mention in a New York Times article from last week. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/09/fa.../09online.html |

Seventeen? Hmmm, any idea which issue? I think my subscription lapsed a few decades ago. I don't think they publish the content online, either. Thanks.

I also spent a couple of hours reading the posts on the discussion forums at Collegeconfidential.com. I was unable to tear myself away from the naked longing with which students discussed their chances of being accepted. (''I have a real hook,'' Harvard2011 wrote. ''I'm from South Dakota and I'm from a low income family.'') And with which parents discussed their children. (''Thanks for writing,'' momofthree wrote. ''If S2 got such an e-mail, he has not mentioned it. I do know he has a complete file as his dad called to check!'')

In the LA Times article talking about CB's misgrading, the mention of collegeconfidential comes up as: Quote: |
In one indication of the highly charged atmosphere surrounding college admissions, a New York attorney posted a notice Wednesday on the collegeconfidential.com website urging affected students to call her office. Reached by phone, Catherine Riccards said her firm was investigating the possibility of suing but did not yet have a client.
| Honestly, people are stupid. How "highly charged" can it be because one lawyer is thinking about suing but doesn't have a client yet. (Some lawyers probably think about suing if they have to wait too long in line at the grocery store so this doesn't seem to be an example of a highly charged atmosphere."
