| New CC Server Update
Our new "monster" server has been napping quietly while waiting for the networking issues to be resolved. Apparently, that time is getting close. Can't be soon enough - sorry for those of you who had difficulty getting through Monday evening.
We should be able to make the transition within 24 hours - you may notice a brief (say, 20 min.) outage as the networking changes are made. Thanks for your patience!

...I was also wondering the same question!
In addition, I would like to know if the "Today's Posts" or the "Recent Posts" section would be coming back up soon...it's a great way for me to procrastinate!

"The server is too busy at the moment. Please try again later." to every page except this one, ironically . .
. . . . best of luck to the technicians

We got several reports of the "server too busy" message and have adjusted some settings on the current server. Searching will come and go as the load varies until the new server is in place.

We may see the site unavailable briefly around 4 PM EST to make some network changes. If you don't see this interruption, it probably means the network techs weren't able to begin the work.

Well, it was more like 6:30 PM, but our network changes are complete. When we bring the new server on we'll have another brief outage.

We took a run at bringing the new server online (that was the downtime between 8:30 - 9 PM EST), but ran into a hardware problem and had to flip back to the old one. We'll try again tomorrow.

Please don't take this wrong way, and I appreciate all of your efforts, but is there any reason why you guys don't do these network changes and server swapping at like 3 am so as to minimize the outages? Just curious and good luck!

The reason we tried to do it during "prime time" is because we had a lot of members getting "server busy" messages - it was a calculated risk to take a short period of downtime to improve access for all. Didn't work, though. |

I am getting the Server Busy messages constantly.
Transitions are always hard. Thanks for the work on it!

shouldn't we simply be grateful that these efforts enable the entire cc community to exist? aren't we guests? I simply don't understand even the beginning of a gripe regarding our "convenience" in accessing this valuable world floating entirely upon the efforts of the triumvirate who operate a business quite behind the curtains of the forum. And if anyone has the nerve to portray 'business' in a negative light here, be grateful this discussion is virtual!
(ok and happy birthday to the mods also--smiley face)

Our big new server was put online in the wee hours this morning. We'll still have a few tweaks and networking changes, but we think we'll have the capacity to handle our traffic and that any outages will be brief and not during prime time.
