*Sigh*

Some people sigh to themselves when they have missed an opportunity or have otherwise made a mistake.

On this board there are an increasing number of posters, including some with many posts, who seem to feel free to *sigh* at other posters with whom they disagree and presumably want to imply that the other poster is stupid, ill informed, badly motivated or otherwise just doesn't get it. I have complained to the moderators about this, and if it doesn't stop I will have to discontinue reading a board that tolerates such bad manners. *sigh*

Good luck there daderoo. Every board I have ever visited has its share of *sighers*.

In my short stint here thus far, I have not seen a lot of trolls, however, which is an unbelievably pleasant experience. So, either the mods are really vigilant, or this board doens't attract the trolling crazies, but either way, I like it more, and will take the sighers over the trolls, any day.

I suppose the sighers could just switch to which sends the same message. I really haven't noticed it as a problem.

well everyone has their pet peeves- mine isnt sighing, but those posters who bring out Clinton and the bj at every opportunity or those who have a higher yearly income than some will see in a lifetime, but can't afford to pay for college because of their debtload. ( insert a sigh here)

My sighing issue is the sabre-rattling around politics, but that's OK, I just try to avoid those threads....

Daderoo - you could always join us in Sinner's Alley. That's where we congregate to drink and act foolish. Cyberly, of course. As April 1 approaches it can get quite emotional around here and it's good to have a place to retreat to on occasion.

I notice this thread has been moved from the Parents Forum to the Parents Cafe, and now buried here in this Forum. I can't wait to see where it's moved next. *Sigh."

I guess it depends on context. We expect all members to be courteous to other members. If a "sigh" expresses general frustration or a similar feeling not directed at an individual member, go ahead and sigh away. If a "sigh" implies that another member is a moron incapable of understanding the simplest concepts, then it's not acceptable. Clearly, there's a continuum of possibilities, and we aren't going to psychoanalyze every post. One hopes that our members are sufficiently mature to express their opinions on issues without also expressing their opinions about other members. Sigh...
