Question about Searching

Is there a way to search and get results ranked by relevance? Example: I searched the whole forum for "math and science" and got a LOT of results, sorted by date (most recent first). It seems like the posts with the exact search phrase in the post's title would come up first (?)

In general, I find the search function frustrating, and I wonder if I am missing something I could be doing better. Thanks for any help.
