On the Tulane thread about this, there was some discussion of a possible fund at Tulane in memory of FC. If that comes to pass, could that info be posted here?

I would be happy to contribute in his memory to such a fund.

I haven't logged on for a while. I am so sorry to hear this. My son is applying to Tulane, and I really enjoyed reading Fallenchemist's posts and appreciated his answers to a few of my questions. Wish I could have met him.

Just logging on now after having not been on all week, and I got back to a PM from another member about the news. Nothing short of shocked and saddened to hear this. I'll be honest and say that FC and I had our misunderstandings here and there during some of our interactions here on CC, but I remember he did help me a bit when I first came onto this site about three years ago as a high school junior. I certainly always respected how informative and helpful he was to the general CC community. I would love to be to UNCW half of what he was to Tulane, but I genuinely struggle to surmise how that would be possible. It's going to be really, really weird not seeing him moderate anymore.

Rest in peace, David "Fallen Chemist" Krost. May God Bless you and console your family and friends. Thank you for all you did for College Confidential.

I started perusing CC around three years ago, as my daughter's college application process loomed on the horizon. I quickly came recognize FC's avatar as one of the most distinctive (and most frequently appearing) on the site.

When I saw it, I knew that I could count on reading two things: the first was sage advice; the second, a reference--however muted--to Tulane.

I shall very much miss both the avatar and the informed, good-natured posts that it heralded.

I don't know who this was, but it makes me very sad to hear this. I checked his profile..amazing he was alive and still responding to posts just a few days ago

I benefitted from many of his posts when I first started reading CC several years ago, and DS 2 is just starting his Tulane app now. RIP @fallenchemist .

My condolences to him and his family. He was such a great help on the Multiple Degree Programs subforum in the Pre-Med & Medical School forum, both with regards to moving posts quickly to their appropriate forums (we tend to get quite a few people in our subforum mistakenly asking about combined programs in other professions that are not of the Bachelor/MD variety), as well as SO HELPFUL in explaining to our subforum's users when asked about Tulane's Accelerated Physician Training Program, what it entailed, when the website was not as helpful or was quite difficult to find for many of us. His contribution was always thoughtful, comprehensive, yet always modest. He was truly emblematic of the label "Super Moderator". RIP David Krost / @fallenchemist.

I just went back and read all of my private message conversations that I have had with FC over the past 4 years. I had forgotten how many times FC came to the rescue with advice and encouragement. My son is a Tulane senior and FC was a huge part of our journey to Tulane. While visiting NOLA this past weekend, I stopped in at the TU admissions office and spoke to Jeff Schiffman, aka TulaneJeff. We are hoping that there will be a tribute/scholarship in David's honor and will keep the CC community posted when there is a plan in place.
