Ads with ActiveX Controls

I have my security settings in Internet Explorer set to prompt me whenever I open a page with ActiveX controls. This is to protect my computer from viruses, trojans, etc. Recently CC started running ads on the left side of the page (underneath Sponsors) that apparently use these ActiveX controls, because every time I navigate to and from one of those pages, that prompt jumps up on my screen and I have to click out of it. It's annoying and time consuming. I realize that it's my choice not to allow IE to download unsigned ActiveX controls and not to initialize any that aren't marked as safe, but with the amount of malware out there these days, it's only prudent.

The main offender is that blue ad that has some kind of motion built into it. I don't remember who the advertiser is. I'm not a computer person so I don't know what's involved in having "signed" as opposed to "unsigned" ActiveX controls, but if it's something that can be looked into, it would be a big improvement.

If I'm the only one experiencing this, I apologize. But if others have noticed it and found it annoying, please post!

I'll check that out. My browser squawks about ActiveX controls, but nothing on the site has triggered it. The ad you are referring to comes from Google, I think, and as far as I know they do only text and image ads.

Thanks, Roger. My home computer handles those ads fine - it's my work computer that balks. I've fiddled with the settings in Tools/Internet Options/Security, but to no avail. I think maybe because it's a government computer there are some settings on the firewall that causes it. The only ad that triggers it is the University of Phoenix one.
