Google uses 100+ factors to rank pages, so trying to figure out why one particular thread is higher in the rankings is difficult. Often, as threads age they drift lower.

see, that was the thing, the thread was from april of 2006, and hadn't been re-opened since. This actually worked, though, as the last time I googled my screenname this thread popped up instead.
